Atiko Adebisi’s missed penalty denied Barrolle win over Nimba Kwado…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Mighty Barrolle dropped crucial points against Nimba Kwado Sunday, as the Liberia Football Association (LFA) Orange National League intensified around the Country.

The Red Boys came from behind to play Kwado to a 1-1 draw, with Atiko missing a late penalty.

The visiting Nimba Kwado took a deserving lead in the 37th minute through Jimmy Carton, who stole the ball between two Rollers defenders to strike the ball at the back of the net.

Alloy Brown should have increased Kwado’s lead few minutes later, but went soft with a strike when Kwado launched a counter-attack.

Barrolle had few chances against Nimba Kwado following that goal, but finishing from their attackers was poor.

Mighty Barrolle fought their way back into the match in the second half, when Alie Kamara was introduced in the 67th minute.

The Winger pace gave Kwado defense difficulties. He set up right back Lassana Kamara with a clever pass which the defender struck on goal, but was denied by the Kwado Keeper.

Last Season’s second division best goalkeeper, Reuben King, was outstanding in the match, saving several attempts from the Rollers especially at a time Nimba Kwado midfield broke down.

The goalie, however, felt guilty when an Alie Kamara strike hit the crossed bar and deflected off him into his net in the 78th minute.

The Rollers increased the pressure following that equalizer and should have won the match in the 88th minute, when Asiamah Dan brought down Jack Blemah in the penalty box.

Rollers’ Nigerian player Atiko Adebisi stepped up and his kick off target, ending the match 1-1.

The two coaches speaking to reporters after the match praised their respective sides for the performance.

The two teams struggled in their ball passing, but still found ways out hitting their targets.
