Cassell Kouh Halts LFA Electoral Process…. As He Runs To Court…..

The Football election in Liberia has been hit with a hindrance as the Civil Law Court in Monrovia issued a Writ of Preliminary Injunction temporarily halting all actions and activities relating to the conduct of the April 18 LFA election.

This follows a legal challenge filed by an aspirant, Cassell A. Kouh, who wants to unseat Mustaphai Raji as President of the Liberian FA.

The order was issued Tuesday, March 10, 2026, by the Sixth Judicial Circuit (Civil Law) Court, Assigned Judge J. Boima Kontoe.

Kouh’s legal action targets the LFA Elections Committee and several senior football executives, including Committee Chairperson Mo Beyan, Robert Johnson, Ibrahim Sheriff, Mustapha I. Raj, Sekou Konneh, Adolphus Dolo, and Jodie Reid Seton, along with other presiding officers of the LFA.

The court’s directive orders the LFA  to temporarily refrain from continuing any process relating to the conduct of elections for the Liberia Football Association pending the outcome of the main lawsuit.

The court warned that failure to comply with the restraining order could result in the arrest and incarceration of the respondents until the matter is resolved.

The court has scheduled a hearing into the matter on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in Monrovia, where the LFA is expected to present its resistance or defense to the petition.

Before that, the LFA has been given until March 20, 2026, to file a formal answer or resistance to the motion for preliminary injunction and petition for declaratory judgment.

FC Fassell CEO Cassell Kouh’s legal challenge argues that the guidelines released for the April 18, 2026, election are in contradiction to the LFA’s current Statutes.

Kouh’s petition is seeking a declaratory judgment from the court regarding the legality of aspects of the electoral process, while also requesting a temporary injunction to prevent the election from proceeding until the court resolves the issues he has raised.

This injunction could delay the April elective congress or compel the football governing body to revise aspects of its electoral process.

Meanwhile, the LFA has confirmed that it has received a writ of injunction relating to the LFA’s April 18 elective Congress.

An LFA statement says that the court’s orders will be respected and that a formal communication has been sent to FIFA regarding the situation.

This legal battle is viewed in Liberia with mixed reactions, as pundits are divided on the issue.

Some in support of Cassell Kouh are hailing the court, while those supporting the LFA and Raji are frowning and describing it as “government interference,” a violation of the FIFA sanction book.

Cassell Kouh is also at the Supreme Court of Liberia seeking clarification on Article 58.1 of the LFA statutes, which his camp says is against the Supreme law of the country.
