Pres. Boakai Calls on West African Examination Council Authorities…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai is calling on authorities of the West African Examination Council (WAEC) to prioritize educational funding, infrastructure, and teacher training programs to enhance learning outcomes.

President Boakai said:” The move is critical to harnessing growth and the efficient delivery of the educational programs in the sub-region.”

Speaking at the opening of the 73rd Annual Council Meeting of WAEC in Congo Town on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, the Liberian Leader reminded them of the critical education plays in shaping the future of every nation.

The President termed education as only not an essential instrument of empowerment, economic growth, and social development but also a pathway to knowledge.

President Boakai said:” WAEC has over the years been instrumental in promoting regional integration, transparency, accountability, and fairness in the academic space.”

Meanwhile, President Boakai is proposing the creation of an inclusive education system, ensuring that students in the sub-region have equal opportunities to learn and thrive.

The Liberian Leader said:” This mandate will break the barriers that hinder the equal participation of students regardless of social and economic hurdles.

The Liberian Chief Executive also urged authorities of WAEC to recognize the importance of inclusive examination policies and practices, ensuring that testing environments remain accessible to students with disabilities.

He, at the same time, recognized the tireless efforts of educators who have dedicated their lives to imparting knowledge and guiding the youthful population over the years.

The annual event which is held rotationally is attended by educational stakeholders from Nigeria, Sierra Leone, the Gambia, Ghana, and the host, Liberia.
