Over Twenty Skilled Medical Doctors, Healthcare Professionals Arrived in Liberia Today

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-More than twenty skilled medical doctors and healthcare professionals have arrived in Liberia to provide extensive healthcare services and training programs for Liberian medical professionals.

The medical doctors, drawn from the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, and Africa, who arrived on Friday, February 21, 2025, are part of the Liberia Medical Mission (LMM) 2025 intended to strengthen the country’s healthcare system.

According to an Executive Mansion release, the Liberia Medical Mission 2025 is a product of a request made by the Liberian Leader at a high-level engagement meeting held with the LMM in the United States months ago.

The team is expected to perform cataract surgeries at the Emirates Hospital in Gbarpolu County, and visually impaired patients from Bomi, Cape Mount, Grand Bassa, and Montserrado Counties.

Meanwhile, the government has disclosed ongoing efforts to improve the country’s emergency response preparedness.

According to the release, the government has initiated rigorous training of medical practitioners at the JFK, ELWA, and Catholic Hospitals, including schools, to achieve this goal.

The release said these trainings are pivotal to enhance the medical knowledge of doctors in catering to the needs of their patients and improve the health sector.

The government described the ongoing efforts as part of President Boakai’s continuous dedication to fostering growth and boosting citizens’ access to better healthcare services.

The government, through the Health Ministry, has pledged to continuously collaborate with partners in supporting the health needs of the Liberian People.
