MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has re-echoed the need for the inclusion of the youthful population in driving national change and development.

According to the Liberian Leader, the active participation of the young people in national decision-making processes is pivotal to the realization of the Liberian Government’s ARREST Agenda.

President Boakai committed the Government to providing young people with the tools, resources, and opportunities to realize their full potential.

The President commented on the presentation and endorsement of the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, in Congo Town.

He described the youthful population as enablers and change-makers of tomorrow, whose contributions to the promotion of national development remain crucial.

At the same time, the Liberian Chief Executive is calling on Government officials and citizens to adopt the culture of accountability and transparency.

President Boakai said:” To achieve the Government’s development priorities, an efficient and effective management of the country’s limited natural resources is required.”

According to him, the agenda, when endorsed, will accelerate economic growth, address corruption, leverage technological advancement, and improve public service delivery.

The Liberian Leader then reaffirmed the determination of the Liberian Government to rebuild trust in all institutions, strengthen the rule of law, and create an enabling environment for Private Sector-driven growth.

For his part, Finance and Development Planning Minister, Augustine Ngafuan, outlined the objective enshrined in the newly endorsed ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development.

Minister Ngafuan named inclusive growth, sustainable development, infrastructure and innovation, social well-being, and governance as key objectives of the framework document.

Minister Ngafuan said:” The adoption of the AAID will foster development and enhance the productivity of the Government’s line ministries and agencies.”

According to him, a total amount of eight-point four billion US Dollars is required to effectively execute the five-year framework document across the country.

The Finance and Development Planning Minister said the adoption of the document followed a nationwide consultation with stakeholders, women and youth groups, civil society organizations, and international partners on the needs and aspirations of the people.
