UNOPS Presents 15 Ambulances to Ministry of Health

Monrovia, Liberia – Fifteen unit Ambulances have been donated to the Ministry of Health to beef up the logistics in the response against the Coronavirus outbreak in Liberia.

The ambulances were donated by the United Nations Office for Project Services UNOPS but donated by the World Bank to equip the Ministry of Health with the needed logistics.

According to a release from UNOPS, since the first case of COVID-19 was reported in Liberia, the Government of Liberia obtained funds from the World Bank to support the Country’s Emergency Response Project.

The release noted that, the Ministry of Health requested UNOPS to handle the procurement and delivery of the 15 ambulances.

Health Minister, Dr. Wilhelmina Jallah, is quoted as laundering the World Bank for its continuous contribution to the country’s health sector.

Dr. Jallah thanked the World Bank of behalf of President Weah for the donation of the vehicles and vowed use the ambulances for their intended purpose to serve the people of Liberia.

She accepted, and thanked UNOPS for the delivery of the ambulances and even taking up the responsibility to procure these ambulances under the World Bank Project.

The Liberian Health Minister then thanked the World Bank and local team for all the work that they do together to collaborate and coordinate to make sure that the ambulances reach.

According to the release, the ambulances have contributed to the government’s efforts to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic and its recovery by ensuring continuous health services amidst the pandemic.

It noted that the ambulances will also improve access to health and socio-economic support for vulnerable groups, including women and children.
