MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has hailed the valuable contributions of famous Liberian sports icon, Josiah Johnson.

President Boakai said:” Johnson’s many years of service and contributions to Liberian football and the Security Sector will long be remembered”.

The Liberian Leader said Josiah Johnson’s works over the years have imprinted an indelible mark in Liberian history.

President Boakai added that while the government is striving to improve every sector of the country, the legacy set by Johnson and others will not be forgotten.

The Liberian Leader made the statement on Saturday, September 5, 2026, when he paid a visit to the ailing former Deputy Sports Minister, Josiah Johnson, in Barnesville.

President Boakai, at the same time, pledged to rehabilitate the home of the former Lone Star coach, which is experiencing leaks.

Meanwhile, Johnson has commended President Boakai for the level of developmental programs he is carrying out across the country.

He particularly praised President Boakai for efforts initiated to improve the southeastern road network.

Describing President Boakai as his long-time friend, Johnson encouraged Liberians to support his administration.

The former Deputy Minister for Sports said the President’s visit brought him great relief and will help his healing process.

Johnson said:” The visit was a huge surprise and joy for me and my entire family. My family and I will continue to support the President and his agenda”.
