Liberia Chamber of Mines President Calls for Increase Investment in Liberia’s Mining Sector

LOWER MARGIBI COUNTY, LIBERIA-The President of the Liberia Chamber of Mines, Amara Kamara, has called for increased investment in Liberia’s mining and energy sectors to promote economic growth, create jobs, and improve the living standards of citizens.

Kamara made the call while delivering his welcome remarks at the Liberia International Mining and Energy Conference and Exhibition (LIMEC 2026), on Wednesday, October 29, 2026.

He emphasized that the success of the mining sector should not be measured only by the export of gold, diamonds, and iron ore, but also by the jobs created, businesses developed, infrastructure built, and skills transferred to Liberians.

According to him, the country must transform its mineral resources into sustainable economic opportunities.

He also stressed the need for investment in roads, railways, ports, and reliable electricity to support mining and industrial development.

Kamara said:” Expanding renewable energy, including solar and hydropower, would improve electricity access and create opportunities for communities across Liberia”.

The Chamber of Mines president further highlighted the importance of local content and responsible mining, urging international investors to partner with Liberian businesses, transfer technology, and develop local skills.

He called on stakeholders to turn discussions at LIMEC 2026 into concrete partnerships and investments, expressing optimism that, by 2030, Liberia could achieve increased mining activities, improved infrastructure, expanded electricity access, and greater participation of Liberian businesses in the mining and energy value chains

At the same time, Deputy Minister for Administration at the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Eudora Blay-Pritchard, has commended sponsors, delegates, international partners, and local businesses for their contributions to the successful hosting of the 2026 Liberia International Mining and Energy Conference and Exhibition (LIMEC 2026).

Delivering the closing remarks, Blay-Pritchard described the two-day conference as a platform for meaningful dialogue, strategic engagement, and renewed commitments to Liberia’s mining and Energy Sectors.

She praised Mines and Energy Minister, Matenokay Tingban, for his leadership and active participation throughout the conference. She also acknowledged the Liberia Chamber of Mines and co-organizer AME Trade for their collaboration.

The Deputy Minister disclosed that the conference report would be published on the Ministry’s website and the official LIMEC platform to highlight achievements, progress, and plans.
