Monrovia, Liberia – The National Steering Committee says is now set for the distribution of food to citizens across the Country on May 23, 2020.

On April 18, President George Weah established the National Steering Committee to provide oversight on the Covid-19 Household Food Support Program.

The Commerce Ministry is chair of the committee while the World Food Program is head of the Secretariat.

In an ELBC interview Friday, the Chairman of the Committee, Commerce Minister Prof. Wilson Tarpeh said all technical arrangements have been made to begin the process.

Minister Tarpeh said the Committee has agreed to carry on the food distribution in direct involvement with the communities.

The National Steering Committee Chairman said local food products are also being purchased to be added on the rice imported to begin the distribution.

Meanwhile, Minister Wilson Tarpeh said the local food products are being purchased from Liberian own businesses.
