MONROVIA, LIBERIA (Jonathan Grigsby Reports)-The Ministry of Commerce says steps are being taken by relevant Government entities to address the ongoing gas shortage in Liberia.

Commerce Minister Wilson Tarpeh said:” Among the steps are to subsidize petroleum importers, create the space for them to have access to their products and supplying smaller gas stations to serve motorcyclists, among others.”

He said the relevant entities are the Commerce Ministry, the National Port Authority and the Liberia Petroleum refining Company.

The Commerce Minister said the various entities are working along with petroleum importers, ship owners and oil dealers to ensure the problem is adequately addressed.

Minister Tarpeh, however, told ELBC Tuesday, January 28, 2020, that currently, 1.1 million gallons of gasoline is in the Country, instead of the 4.4 previously announced.
