Joint Delegation of ECOWAS, Int’l Labor Org. in Liberia to Help Gov’t in Child Labor Fight

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-A high-level joint delegation of ECOWAS and the International Labor Organization (ILO) has arrived in Liberia to help the government in the fight against child labor.

While in the country, the team will conduct a week-long intensive peer review exercise on child labor under the theme: “Liberia Peer Review Efforts to Eliminate Child Labor.”

According to the Director of Child Labor at the Labour Ministry, Patience Health, the exercise is part of the ECOWAS Regional Action Plan for the Elimination of Child Labor and forced Labor in West Africa for 2022 to 2030.

Madam Heah said:” The Regional Action Plan provides steps to be taken by member states, including Liberia, to eliminate child Labor and forced Labor”.

She said it also seeks to establish a regional framework for child protection to strengthen the accountability tool for monitoring and reporting.
