MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberia National Commission on Arms (LiNCA) is calling on hunters and those in possession of unregistered firearms in Nimba County to take advantage of the Commission’s upcoming Firearms registration process.

The exercise is aimed at establishing a comprehensive firearms database, strengthening accountability, and controlling and curbing the proliferation of illegal weapons across Liberia.

The exercise will shortly commence in Nimba County.

Speaking in an ELBC interview Friday, October 9, 2026, LiNCA Chairman James Fromayan encouraged hunters and Nimba County authorities to cooperate with the Commission and ensure the process is successful.

Chairman Fromayan stressed that registering firearms, particularly those used by hunters, is important for proper documentation and tracking as Liberia works to address the increase in arms-related crimes.

LiNCA’s firearms County Registration Exercise, which will be extended to other counties, is in line with Executive Order 162, which mandates the registration of all civilian-held firearms.
