MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The House of Representatives has failed to open its official sitting following a reported boycott by more than fifty lawmakers.
The aggrieved lawmakers are demanding payment of their benefits.
According to reports, some lawmakers are claiming that they have gone for several months without receiving benefits due to them.
The absence of the lawmakers prevented House Speaker Richard Koon from proceeding with the session, where he was expected to deliver his official address.
Meanwhile, some lawmakers around Speaker Koon have assured that they will engage their colleagues to ensure the House returns to full attendance next week.
