MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Deputy Youth and Sports Minister for Development, Alphonso Belleh, has urged county youth coordinators to develop local programs that address the needs of young people across Liberia.
Minister Belleh emphasized teamwork, accountability, and effective coordination in implementing youth programs.
The Deputy Youth and Sports Minister made the call on Friday, October 9, 2026, during a two-day General Staff Training and Orientation for County Youth and Sports Center Staff.
He encouraged the coordinators to work along with County Superintendents, local councils, government agencies, and development partners to secure funding for youth initiatives.
The Deputy Youth Minister also stressed the need to promote youth programs through the media and ensure that government and partner-supported projects create meaningful opportunities for young people.
Meanwhile, Youth and Sports Minister, Cornelia Kruah, wants the Ministry’s staff in the counties to uphold teamwork, accountability, and professionalism in carrying out their duties.
Minister Kruah said:” The exercise is intended to help participants understand their responsibilities, the Ministry’s procedures, and how different departments work together”.
She stressed the need for staff to respect leadership, coordinate their activities, and obtain authorization before soliciting or spending funds.
Minister Kruah also emphasized proper financial reporting, procurement, and accountability at all county offices across Liberia.
At the same time, the County Youth and Sports Center Staff, thanked the Ministry of Youth and Sports for organizing the training.
