MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS) is calling for budgetary increment in the tune of $486,605 United States Dollars in the 2027 National Budget.
The LBS Director General, Eugene Fahngon said:” The state-run National Broadcaster needs the funding to recruit and train additional 124 employees to bridge the manpower gaps for the System’s substations”.
Fahngon advanced the System’s budget rise proposal on Monday, October 9, 2026, at the ongoing Executive Budget Hearing in Monrovia.
He disclosed LBS has completed two substations and expects to complete two more in Grand Kru and Gbarpolu Counties by the end of this year.
The LBS Director General also called for improved salaries and a bus for LBS employees, citing a study conducted with the CSA, urging equal pay for equal work.
In remarks, Finance Minister, Augustine Ngafuan, praised DG Fahngon for the achievements and plans for the coming year.
Minister Ngafuan also lauded the LBS Director General for perfectly executing previous funds allotted to the Liberia Broadcasting System and his quest for more.
He assured a team of technical Directors at the Finance Ministry will look into the System’s request and advise the Budget Committee on the way forward.
The Finance Minister also highlighted the crucial role of the State Broadcaster in spreading government’s development programs and policies.
