SCJ Liberia Sanitation Team Influences Duport Road Market

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Since the Shincheonji Church of Jesus (SCJ) Liberia’s Chapter sanitation Department program began in the Duport Road Market, it has kept boosting the market’s decency and marketers’ commitment to the exercise.

On October 3, 2026, which was the first Saturday, the SCJ’s sanitation team rendered their usual service in the Duport Road Market, wearing yellow T-shirts and working with sanitation materials.

As a cultural practice, every first Saturday of each month, businesses in Liberia remain closed from 10:00 AM until the sanitation order is observed for decency and hygiene maintenance.

Some marketers and passers-by who are familiar with SCJ’s sanitation service praised the team for their commitment to always cleaning Duport Road Market without demanding a cent.

“For the exercise, they have been doing well when it comes to ordinances and cleaning the market, “Abel K. Baysay, chairman for Electricity of Duport Road Market, said.

“Not only the market do they clean, but the community too. If I am grading them, I would give them 100/100 or excellence.

According to Baysay, nobody can do what the sanitation team often does in the market, noting that the sanitation team comes every first Saturday, sweeps, and takes their dirt away.

“They clean the market for free. I thank SCJ Clean-up campaign Team for coming to Liberia, because they clean the market and cleanliness is next to godliness,” the Market Electricity Department chairman said.

“The group’s action is good, and I even want to ask which organization is always cleaning the market?”, Helen Gardea said.  “They do the work fine; when they come, they cannot ask people for money and start cleaning up. They made the market clean and decent.”

SCJ Volunteer Sanitation Team describes its activities as part of its broader humanitarian and community service efforts, including sanitation, charity and other volunteer initiatives.

The Duport Road exercise is conducted monthly as volunteers continue to encourage traders and residents to participate in maintaining a cleaner environment.
