Liberia Observes ‘Good Governance Month’ October, for First Time

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia is, for the first time, observing ‘Good Governance Month’ this October.

Unlike July 26 and Christmas festival celebrations, Good Governance Month will not be marked by merry-making, gift-giving, or family visitations.

Liberia’s renowned politician and former President, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, will deliver the keynote address at the symposium to mark the official kick-off of the celebration this Tuesday, October 6, 2026, in Monrovia.

This follows a recent proclamation by President Joseph Boakai, mandating the Governance Commission to organize programs to commemorate the month.

The Governance Commission Executive Director, Jallah Kesselly, said:” The activities are vital to promote Liberia’s governance reform agenda and strengthen public awareness”.
