MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Labor has denied the issuance of work permits to two foreign nationals reportedly seeking employment with the Adventist University of West Africa in Paynesville City.

The Ministry’s action is in line with the Liberianization Policy, clarifying that the positions in question- Chief Financial Officer and Chief Accountant- are to be occupied by Liberians and not foreigners.

The Liberianization Policy gives Liberians the right to occupy specific positions in public and private sectors and exclusive businesses in keeping with the law.

Speaking at a press briefing at the Ministry of Labor over the weekend in Congo Town, the Minister of Labor, Cooper Kruah, said:” Oko Yarbeo and Okabi Gift, both Nigerian nationals, were denied work permits to allow qualified Liberians to occupy the positions”.

Minister Kruah called on universities and colleges to advertise job vacancies and use various platforms to encourage qualified Liberians to seek job opportunities.
