MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia and Egypt have signed a military defense cooperation agreement in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

The Military Defense Cooperation aims to pave the way for a structured, long-term security partnership between Liberia and Egypt.

Liberia’s Deputy Defense Minister for Operations, Spencer Leeco, signed on behalf of the Liberian Government, while Major General Walaa Adel Bibers, Egyptian Assistant Defense Minister for Foreign Relations, signed on behalf of his government.

Speaking at the signing ceremony recently, Deputy Minister Leeco highlighted the historical ties between both nations and underscored the importance of transitioning from informal security engagements to a sustainable, formalized defense framework.

For his part, Maj. Gen. Bibers assured Liberia of his country’s support in building the capacities of the Liberian military, while also encouraging Liberia to explore over one hundred disciplines in which the country could benefit.
