MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia’s participation in the ongoing Migration Dialogue for West Africa in Nigeria is being described as crucial to supporting migration governance and border management, among others.

The Dialogue is a regional consultative process established by ECOWAS in partnership with the International Migration Organization (IOM) to enable West African countries to address migration issues collectively.

The Liberia Immigration Service (LIS)Deputy Commissioner General, Nelsco Wolo, said:” The meeting aims at facilitating safe, orderly, and regular movement of people, while respecting ECOWAS free-movement principles”.

Deputy Commissioner Wolo noted that the Dialogue will also strengthen integrated border management and cooperation among border agencies.

He stressed the need to develop practical regional responses to challenges such as displacement, environmental migration and transnational crimes.
