Montserrado County Grand Jury Indicts Individuals in Connection with Ongoing Cocaine Case

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Grand Jury of Montserrado County has indicted several individuals in connection with an ongoing cocaine trafficking case.

The indictment followed investigations by the Joint National Security Investigative Team.

Speaking at the Information Ministry’s regular press briefing on Thursday, September 3, 2026, in Monrovia, Deputy Information Minister Daniel Sando said:” The case involves an alleged false declaration of cargo and attempts to facilitate the movement of the seized cocaine”.

Minister Sando said several individuals have been named in connection with the investigation, including George Harris, Paul Harris, Paul King, Philip York, Muhammad Boa, Moses Jallah, Michael Brown, Raheem Ba, Paulo Ba, Oscar Brown and Usman Ali.

The Minister said:” The investigation remains part of broader national efforts to disrupt drug trafficking networks and strengthen Liberia’s response to transnational organized crime”.

Minister Sando says the Government is intensifying efforts to combat drug trafficking through coordinated investigations involving national security institutions.

Deputy Minister Sando said:” The Joint National Security Investigative Team is leading evidence-based investigations into suspected drug trafficking activities, as authorities seek to dismantle networks involved with the illegal movement of narcotics”.

He noted that the investigations are being conducted in coordination with relevant security and justice institutions to ensure individuals involved with drug-related crimes are brought before the courts.

Minister Sando said the renewed efforts come amid concerns over the trafficking of illicit drugs through Liberia and the potential impact on communities, particularly young people.

He said the government remains committed to strengthening the national response to drug trafficking and ensuring Liberia does not become a transit point for international narcotics networks
