MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Two young Liberian American entrepreneurs living in Washington, DC, are making a lasting impact through educational support for over 150 young Liberians across high schools and universities in Liberia.

Alvin B. Hoff III and Isaac Washington have been galvanizing resources to enhance their humanitarian outreach through the Foundation for African and Caribbean Education (F.A.C.E.) Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding educational opportunities in Liberia and the Caribbean.

Building on its commitment to educational empowerment, the Foundation, which already has four scholarship recipients at Bassa High School, recently awarded an additional 20 scholarships to students in grades 7 through 12. This brings the total number of F.A.C.E. Foundation scholarship recipients at Bassa High School in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, to 24 students.

The Foundation’s next scholarship initiative will take place in Grand Cape Mount County and Margibi County, where 30 additional scholarships will be awarded—15 in each county.

In August and September of 2026, the F.A.C.E. Foundation will award a total of 103 scholarships to students in the MCSS school system, including 12 scholarships for students attending colleges and universities across Liberia.

Currently, the Foundation supports approximately 157 students through scholarships at the elementary, junior high, senior high, and college levels. Of those, six students are enrolled in vocational and technical schools, while 28 students are enrolled in colleges and universities throughout Liberia.

When asked what inspired their humanitarian work, the founders shared a simple but powerful belief: “To whom much is given, much is required.” They emphasized that education is one of the most powerful tools for breaking the cycle of poverty and creating opportunities for future generations.

Beyond scholarships, the F.A.C.E. Foundation provides comprehensive support to many of its students, including school uniforms, backpacks, laptops, smartphones, housing assistance, transportation, food stipends, job training and placement, as well as medical and mental health support.
