MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Monrovia and Beijing have signed a thirty-million US dollar development grant agreement to finance projects jointly identified by both governments.
The agreement was signed recently at the Foreign Ministry in Monrovia as a direct outcome of Minister Sara Beysolow-Nyanti’s official visit to Beijing in May 2026.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Beysolow-Nyanti expressed appreciation to the government and people of China for translating the commitments into concrete development assistance.
The Liberian Foreign Minister underscored the importance of results-oriented diplomacy and partnerships that deliver meaningful benefits to the Liberian people.
She reaffirmed Liberia’s commitment to the One China Policy and emphasized the need to deepen economic cooperation through increased trade, Chinese investment, and employment opportunities for Liberian youth.
In remarks, Chinese Ambassador to Liberia Yin Chengwu described the agreement as a further demonstration of China’s commitment to Liberia’s development.
He said:” The grant would finance projects jointly identified by both governments and highlighted more than eight ongoing Chinese-supported projects across Liberia”.
Ambassador Yin also reaffirmed China’s pledge to expand cooperation with Liberia, both bilaterally and within the United Nations and other multilateral institutions.
A Foreign Ministry dispatch said the thirty-million grant marks another important step in advancing Liberia-China relations through development-focused and economic diplomacy.
