MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Interim Director of the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL) says Liberia is partially prepared to address health emergencies.
According to her, surveillance systems across the country remain functional and active.
Dr. Sia Wata Camanor named the training of over a hundred surveillance officers, the assessment of entry points, and the over thirty-two public health emergency operation centers as some major efforts in addressing health emergencies in the country.
Despite these efforts, Dr. Camanor emphasized the need for more support in the areas of logistics, including mobility, rain gear, and personal protective equipment, to beef up the strength of surveillance officers.
She disclosed this during a press conference in Monrovia on Monday, July 13, 2026, following her assessment tour of border and entry points across the country.
The tour, according to Dr. Sia Wata Camanor, was intended to strengthen surveillance systems and identify gaps for improvement.
