MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Bong County University President, Dr. Alfredson Taikerweyah, says the recent decision to rename several colleges in honor of prominent citizens will remain unchanged.
The university’s Board of Trustees recently renamed some colleges, a move that has sparked huge public debate across the County.
Appearing on the Super Morning Show on Monday, July 13, 2026, Dr. Taikerweyah says:” The decision recognizes citizens who have made significant contributions to the development of the country”.
The Bong County University president wants the public to support the growth of the university instead of politicizing the issue.
He said the board’s decision is final and nothing will be done to overturn it.
At the same time, Bong County University is set to graduate more than 130 students.
The graduates are drawn from various colleges and academic programs at the university.
The University President, Dr. Alfredson Taikerweyah, says this year’s commencement marks a turning point for the institution.
Dr. Taikerweyah said:” It reflects the University’s continued growth and commitment to academic excellence”.
Meanwhile, the president of the University of Liberia, Dr. Layli Maparyan, will deliver the keynote address.
