MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Grand Gedeh County Legislative Caucus is urging the Government to fast-track efforts to reactivate the Putu Mining Concession Company.
The caucus warned that continued delays are hampering economic growth and employment opportunities in the county.
The chairman of the caucus, Representative Jeremiah Sokan, described the prolonged silence from the committee established to oversee the company’s reactivation as deeply concerning.
Representative Sokan wants the committee, chaired by the Vice President, to make a decisive and intentional move toward selecting a credible company to resume mining operations at Putu.
Representative Sokan said reopening the Putu Mining concession would create thousands of jobs, stimulate business activities, and strengthen the economy of Grand Gedeh and the southeastern region.
The Grand Gedeh County Representative emphasized that the Putu concession remains one of Liberia’s most promising mining assets and its reactivation is critical to tackling unemployment and driving sustainable economic development.
