MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Hope Restored Foundation International has petitioned the House of Representatives to develop a bill to ban shisha, illicit substances, and street gambling nationwide.
The Executive Director of the Foundation, Maxim Kpakio, says the petition seeks to safeguard the sanity of the country and promote a distraction-free environment for youths, whom he described as central to national development.
He noted that young people remain a cardinal pillar of Liberia’s growth, stressing that their well-being is critical to sustaining progress across key sectors of society.
ED Kpakio warned that failure to enforce the proposed ban could expose youths to unethical lifestyles that may hinder their development and productivity in the long term.
He disclosed on Thursday on the ELBC Super Morning Show, where he outlined the Foundation’s concerns and called for urgent action to address the situation.
The Hope Restored Foundation International has commended the House Committee on Health, Claims, and Petition and Judiciary for receiving the petition, expressing hope for timely legislative consideration.
