Labor Minister Calls on Companies, Employees to Uphold Labor Standards

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Minister of Labor, Cllr. Cooper Kruah is calling on companies and employers to uphold labor standards and comply with Liberia’s Minimum Wage Law.

The call comes after an investigation by the Ministry of Labor, which found that some entities are paying below the Minimum Wage.

At an honoring program in Congo Town over the weekend, Minister Kruah reminded Private-Sector workers to uphold the Minimum Wage set by the Government of Liberia and to ensure a decent working environment.

Minister Kruah said,” I have observed that some security agencies are paying workers between 75-80 US dollars monthly; such an act is unacceptable”.

He spoke when the “Coalition of Sinoe Workers” appreciated him for numerous reforms being carryout at the Labor Sector.

The labor minister warned subcontracting firms taking contracts from concession companies to be ready to provide the needed benefits for the workers.
