Commerce Ministry Shuts Down Several Businesses…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Commerce has shut down several businesses for selling above the national stipulated price and expired frozen foods.

Commerce Minister Magdalene Dagoseh led the inspection team from central Monrovia to the commercial hub of Red-Light.

At the Rally Time Market in central Monrovia, the commerce minister shut down several business houses for selling rice more than the fourteen-dollar stipulated price.

At the Red-Light, cold storage buildings and other businesses were also shut down for selling rotten and expired items.

Speaking to ELBC, Minister Dagoseh maintained that the price of rice remains unchanged, and no one is allowed to inflate the price of the commodity.

On the issue of rotten frozen foods, the commerce minister insisted on a zero-tolerance stance, while recommitting the Ministry to ensuring that markets are safe from unwanted products.
