Joint Committee Investigating Fire Outbreak at Capitol Suspects Arson Attack

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-An initial report from the Joint Committee set up to investigate the fire outbreak at the Capitol is considering an arson attack.

The Liberia National Fire and Rescue Service Director, Waysuah Barvoul, told ELBC Super Morning Show on Thursday, December 19, 2024, that a container containing an unknown suspicious liquid believed to have started the fire, was found near the site of the incident.

Director Barvoul called for calm and assured that the Joint Committee is intensifying the investigation to get to the bottom of the incident.

Meanwhile, the National Fire Service Boss has described the fire as a “Class-B “fire, which raged through the wing of the House of Representatives and destroyed the Joint Chambers and parts of the Rotunda.
