Booker Washington Institute Welcomes Inducted Board of Directors…

MARGIBI COUNTY, LIBERIA-The Booker Washington Institute (BWI) welcomed its newly inducted Board of Directors over the weekend.

The induction ceremony marks the beginning of a four-year term dedicated to transforming the institution and restoring its dignity.

Mr. Jonathan Paye-Layleh, who was appointed by President Joseph Boakai to represent the Office of the President in the capacity of Chair, Ex-Officio of the Board of Directors, served as the Induction Officer.

Mr. Paye-Layleh emphasized the collective commitment of the Board to enact comprehensive reforms that align with the institution’s founding principles.

He said:” The Board of Directors will collaboratively with the school administration to ensure that the law establishing the BWI is properly adhered to and executed.”

Mr. Paye-Layleh urged the BWI Principal, Dr. Nancy Freeman, to embrace radical changes that would enhance educational quality and institutional governance in line with the school policy.

In his induction address, the Presiding Chairman of the BWI Board, Isaac Stevens, outlined his leadership priorities, which include strengthening institutional governance with the collaborative effort of the Board and administration will ensure sound governance, accountability, and sustainable management practices that reflect the integrity of the BWI.

He noted that the Board will integrate innovative technologies and best practices to ensure graduates are equipped to thrive in a competitive and rapidly evolving global economy.

Mr. Stevens believes that by supporting Liberia’s development agenda, the BWI program will align with Liberia’s national development priorities to ensure that graduates contribute meaningfully to the industrial, agricultural, and economic transformation.

He committed to promoting innovation within the institute, ensuring accountability and transparency as foundational principles throughout his tenure.

For her part, the Principal of the BWI, Dr. Nancy Freeman, expressed delight over the induction of the officials.

Dr. Freeman also urged the Board of Directors to visit the school regularly to help address some of the institution’s challenges.

Meanwhile, the BWI Principal has commended the Government of Liberia, through the Agriculture Ministry, for donating two power trailers to the school.

Dr. Nancy Freeman noted that the equipment would help boost agriculture activities at the Booker Washington Institute in Kakata, Margibi County.
