MONROVIA, LIBERIA-An inter-agency delegation from the United States Government is in Liberia to strengthen US-Liberia Cooperation in the Justice Sector and to contribute efforts to establish the War and Economic Crimes Court.

The Delegation’s representatives are from the Department of State Office of Global Criminal Justice, Homeland Security Investigations, Department of Justice, US Attorney Office, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

According to a recent US Embassy release, the delegation will meet the Liberian government representatives and counterparts in law enforcement, the legal sector, and civil society.

The meeting is to build a partnership, exchange ideas, and share experiences about prosecuting complex cases in a trauma-informed and victim-centric way.

It will bring extensive experience in the investigation and prosecution of war crimes and other atrocities, as well as victim support.

Meanwhile, Ambassador-at-Large for Global Criminal Justice, Beth Van Schaack, said:” The US Government hopes that the visit will be the beginning of a productive relationship where both the US and Liberian officials will learn from each other.”

Ambassador Van Schaack extolled Liberia’s commitment to build a War and Economic Crimes Court, an effort towards justice and accountability.
