Gov. of Liberia Counters Sen. Yahya Nimely’s Statement…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia has termed an untrue statement by Grand Gedeh County Senator Thomas Yahya Nimely that the establishment of the War and Economic Crimes Court is a recipe for chaos in Liberia.

Deputy Information Minister for Public Affairs Designate, Daniel Sando, indicated that the Government categorically disagrees and rejects such a statement that the pursuit of the Courts will derail the Country’s peace.

Deputy Minister Sando said:” The establishment of the Courts, payment of reparation or the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, among others, were measures that came out of the Accra Comprehensive Peace Accord.”

Speaking on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at the MICAT regular press briefing in Monrovia, Deputy Minister Sando said these measures must be taken seriously, noting that the failure of the past Government to implement these measures does not in any way stop the current Government from executing them.
