Liberian Senate Dismisses Media Reports of Receiving $700,000.00 to Host Retreat

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian Senate has dismissed media reports of receiving seven hundred thousand US Dollars to host its recent retreat held in Grand Bassa County.

In a release issued recently, the Senate Chair on Ways, Means, Finance and Budget Committee, Senator Prince Moye, clarified that the Finance Ministry disbursed forty-seven thousand US Dollars out of the fifty thousand budgeted for the retreat.

Senator Moye clarified on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at the Capitol, amid widespread sentiments over the huge financial cost associated with the Senate Retreat.

The Senate Chair on Ways, Means Finance and Budget Committee reassured that it would foster transparency and accountability under the leadership of Pro-Tempore Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence.

Senator Moye said:” The Senate spent forty-two thousand, eight hundred forty USD for the retreat, with the outstanding of four thousand, one hundred sixty dollars to be deposited in the Senate’s account.
