Liberia’s Transport Ministry Enforces Compulsory Motor Insurance Scheme

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Transport has commenced the enforcement of regulations on the Compulsory Motor Third Party Liability Insurance Scheme.

Chapter 4.4 of the Motor Insurance Regulations mandates that all vehicles, including tricycles and motorbikes, are registered by a licensed and certified insurance company operating in Liberia.

The Head of Public Affairs at the Ministry of Transport, Lemuel Kleeme, said the enforcement of the regulation is crucial.

Mr. Kleeme said:” The enforcement is consistent with Chapter 4.4 of the 1972 Compulsory Motor Insurance Law, which states that all vehicles are to be insured before plying the routes.”

Recently, the new Minister of Transport, Sirleaf Tyler, promised strict enforcement of the policy.
