Nat’l Elections Com. Retrieves Data Materials from Phase-One of Biometric Voter Registration

MONTSERRADO County-The National Elections Commission (NEC) has begun retrieving data materials from Phase-One of the Biometric Voter Registration exercise, in six of Liberia’s fifteen counties.

According to NEC, its temporary began returning registration materials at the Central warehouse, following the end of the VBR process.

The Commission noted that similar retrieval of materials is smoothly taking place in other parts of the six counties.

Phase-One of the VBR started on March 20 and ended April 9 in Montserrado, Bomi, Grand Cape Mount, Gbarpolu, Grand Bassa and Margibi Counties.

Phase-Two, according to NEC, will begin from April 21 to May 11 in Bong Nimba, Lofa, Rivercess, River Gee, Grand Kru, Maryland, Sinoe and Grand Gedeh Counties.

Meanwhile, the NEC has announced that allowances for its temporary staff are being paid.

At the same time, NEC has embarked on training its temporary staff in Bong County, in preparation of Phase-Two of the VBR exercise.

Speaking during the exercise over the weekend in Totota, NEC Lower Bong County Magistrate, Gonkpa Krah, urged the staff to ensure every Liberian get the Voter Card.

Meanwhile, Mr. Krah is calling on citizens of the county, age 18 and above, to turn out and form part of the process.
