BONG COUNTY, LIBERIA-The Center for Agricultural Research Institute (CARI) in Suakoko, Bong County, has received several pieces of modern agricultural equipment to boost agricultural activities.

The donation was made by the Agriculture Ministry, through its Small-holders Agriculture Development for Food and Nutrition Security project (SADFONS).

Our Correspondent quotes a representative of the ministry, Joseph Dennis, as saying the donation is part of the government’s effort to empower CARI as the nation’s premier agricultural research institution.

According to him, the goal is to strengthen CARI’s capacity for the mass production of improved seed rice that will be distributed to farmers in other parts of the country.

Equipment donated include a brand-new farm tractor, mechanized seed planters, a dig plug machine, and other assorted farming equipment

Receiving the equipment, the administration of CARI lauded the agriculture ministry for the timely intervention, noting that the lack of modern equipment has been a major challenge for the institute.
