The Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Gbeme Horace Kollie, has commended President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. for what she described as his practical commitment to women’s inclusion and empowerment through government policies and appointments.

Minister Kollie said the Boakai Administration has sought to strengthen women’s participation in Liberia’s national development and rebuilding efforts by placing women in strategic positions across government.

“Under his leadership, Liberia has returned to the United Nations Security Council, and through policies and appointments has demonstrated that women must be at the table and helping to shape the future of our nation,” she stressed.

Minister Kollie made the remarks on Monday, September 21, 2026, during a high-level side event at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, convened under the auspices of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection.

The event, held under the theme, “From Pioneers to Global Leaders: Liberia’s Journey in Women, Peace and Security,” bringing together government officials, diplomats, women leaders, peacebuilders and other stakeholders to examine Liberia’s experience and advance the global Women, Peace and Security agenda.

At the event H.E Prez. Boakai officially launched Liberia’s Women, Peace and Security Agenda on the global platform, seeking international partnership and support for its implementation.

The gathering forms part of Liberia’s broader engagement on women’s participation in peacebuilding, conflict prevention, governance and decision-making as the country serves on the United Nations Security Council.
