WOMEN GROUP EXPRESSES CONCERN ABOUT EMERGING THREATS TO LIBERIA’S PEACE AND STABILITY…..

A group of women, under the banner Liberian Women Mass Action for Peace has expressed concern about what it calls early warning signs of potential conflict in the country.

The group wants government and partners paid keen attention and address issues that could undermine the peace.

The women group named some of the critical issues as mysterious killings and disappearance of people, postponement of the By-election in Lofa County and hike in the price of basic commodities on local market.

The group is therefore calling on the government to ensure that those early warning signals are addressed or responded to urgently.

The Women at the same time called on all political parties and politicians to carry out their activities with objectivity and void of violence.

The women then called on Liberians and foreign friends; as well as citizens within the ECOWAS region to join them in protecting the peace and stability the country has enjoyed over the past 19 years.

Meanwhile the Liberian Women Mass Action for Peace has been engaged in series of activities aimed at mitigating any potential conflict triggered by the above early warning signals.

The activities include the commencement of a 14 day fast and prayers, hoisting of flags of Liberia, ECOWAS, and the 15 Counties and the dedication of the women prayer center for peace, Community Engagement, Show Love Campaign and Mitigation.

The Mass Action will be climaxed on Wednesday June 8, 2022 with a parade for Peace and a presentation of a resolution to strategic stakeholders.

The women group is inviting the public to turn out for the official closing program on Wednesday June 8, 2022.

The group has since extended special thanks and appreciation to the President George Manneh Weah for the construction of the women center.
