Minister of State criticizes Traditional Players’ involvement in legal matters

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Nathaniel McGill, has denounced traditional actors getting involved in legal issues for political reasons.

Minister McGill’s condemnation is in reaction to recent report of traditional people blocking the Lofa County road, in protest for the certification of Lofa County Senator-elect, Brownie Samukai.

Addressing the MICAT Press Briefing on Thursday, December 2, 2021, he said such act undermines the cultural and traditional values of the Country.

Minister McGill stated that when an issue is before the Supreme Court, it must be respected and void of emotion, sentiments or political persuasion.

According to him, what occurred at the Lofa Bridge that prevented the movement of people and services is tantamount to chaos.

The Minister of State said:” It is not Country devils that decide the democratic path of the Country, and as such, traditional people should not be used by politicians to cause havoc.”

He then encouraged leaders and ordinary people of Lofa County to condemn the act, and continue to abide by the rule of law.
