United Nations elevates profile of Liberian military contingent in Mali

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian Contingent with the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Mali has made significant gains in its operations in that West African country.

It followed the promotion of the Liberian Contingent from camp security to based security escorts of VIPs and UN Personnel.

Armed Forces of Liberia Deputy Chief of Staff, General Geraldine George, said:” Those elevations are results of high level of professionalism the AFL Troops continue to demonstrate at the UN Mission in Mali.”

She made the disclosure Thursday, August 19, 2021, at the Ministry of Information Culture and Tourism (MICAT)’s regular press briefing in Monrovia.

General George said as a result of the AFL’s performance in Mali, the United Nations has requested Liberia to increase its troops based in Timbuktu.
