Judiciary Inquiry Committee recommends a year’s suspension for Commercial Court Judge…..

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Judiciary Inquiry Commission has recommended a one-year suspension for Judge Eva Marpay Morgan of the Commercial Court for ethical bridge.

Judge Morgan is being held liable for financial malpractice, in connection with a Three-million United States Dollar case, involving Ducor Petroleum.

Ducor Petroleum had alleged that over three-million USD was withdrawn from its account, under the stewardship of Judge Morgan.

The company has been in a long running court battle with the Monrovia Oil Trading Company (MOTC), over ownership of Ducor Petroleum.

ELBC Reporter said:” The Judicial Review Commission also recommended other actions in connection with the case.”

Speaking on the situation Thursday, April 8, 2021, at the regular MICAT Press Briefing in Monrovia, Deputy Information Minister, Eugene Fahngon, said:” The President is keen on getting the fact and will work with the Judiciary to reach a logical conclusion and an outcome.”

In another development, the Supreme Court has upheld the decision of the National Elections Commission (NEC), declaring Jeremiah Koon as winner of the Nimba County Senatorial Elections.

The Supreme Court on Thursday, April 8, 2021, reaffirmed the Board of Commissioners’ ruling, after conducting final hearing into a case brought by lawyers of closed challenger, Edith Gongloe Weh.

The Supreme Court said:” There weren’t sufficient proof to substantiate claims of fraud and irregularities brought by lawyers of Madman Edith Gongloe Weh.”

Thursday’s decision by the Supreme Court has ended a four-month legal battle against Senator-Elect Jeremiah Koon.

The decision now means the NEC can certificate the New Nimba County Senator, nearly five months after his election.
