Prez. Weah switches on first public street light in Tubmanburgs City

Tubmanburg, Bomi County, Wednesday March 24, 2021 – The first public street light has been switched on in Tubmanburg, Bomi County by President George Weah after more than Thirty years.

President Weah switched on the Tubmanburg Street lights on Tuesday as part of the second leg of the Citizen Engagement tour.

President Weah said the installation of the street light is part of the Special Presidential Street Light Project.

In an interview with reporters Tuesday, President Weah said the Street Light Project is expected to benefit major cities in the fifteen Counties.

The Liberian Leader is urging residents of Tubmanburg City to provide security for the light poles for long-term sustainability.

President Weah warned that the law will take its course if anyone is caught unscrewing the knobs from the light poles.

Meanwhile, residents of Tubmanburg have lauded the Government of Liberia through President George Weah for lighting up their city.

The residents, many of whom students, said this is the first time in Thirty-one years to have street lights in Tubmanburg.

In separate remarks, the Tubmanburg residents recounted the enormous benefits they are expected to accrue from the street light project.

According to students, the lights will afford them the opportunity to study at night while local business people will be able to stay longer time selling at night, thereby increasing their sales margin.

The Tubmanburg residents promised to institute measures that will provide security for the light poles.
