MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Senator of Lofa County, Momo Cyrus, has launched a legislative inquiry into Liberia’s cybersecurity readiness and protection of critical national infrastructure.
Senator Cyrus pleaded with Plenary to cite officials of the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA), the Ministries of Post and Telecommunications and Justice to provide a comprehensive briefing on Liberia’s cyber security readiness.
The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Defense said:” My request is predicated on the increasingly complex cyber threat across West Africa and beyond”.
He noted that INTERPOL’s 2025 Africa cyber threat assessment reported that related offences represent more than thirty percent of reported crimes in Western and Eastern Africa.
Meanwhile, the leadership of the Liberian Senate has taken seize of the matter due to its security nature.
