A bill to establish a rehabilitation center for cannabis drug victims submitted

MONROVIA, LIBERIA- A bill, seeking to establish a rehabilitation center for victims of cannabis drug users, has been submitted to the House of Representatives for enactment.

The Bill was submitted Tuesday, January 27, 2021, by Montserrado County District-4 Representative, Rustonlyn Dennis.

Representative Dennis told Plenary that Liberia is among many countries that have signed the World Health Organization’s framework Convention on cannabis drug and tobacco to prohibit and reduce the use in Liberia.

She said cannabis and other drug substances have become the most common form of abuse by young people in Liberia, a situation that has rubbed them of requisite skills and professions.

Meanwhile, the Bill has been forwarded to the various House Committees on Judiciary, National Security, Health, Gender, and Ways and Means to report within two weeks.
