Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation faces major pipeline breakdown

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Management of the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC) has announced a major breakdown of its sixteen-inch transmission pipeline.

LWSC’s Communication Director, Nimpson Todd, said the situation which occurred ON Sunday, January 17,2021, now affects the supply and distribution of water to several communities on the Bushrod Island in Monrovia, including Virginia, Hotel Africa, Browerville, Caldwell and Tweah Farm.

Mr. Todd blamed the breakdown on what he calls an ‘age old’ infrastructure.

He said:” LWSC Technicians are assessing the damage for a rapid repair of the facility.”

While reaffirming the Corporation’s commitment to restoring water supply to affected communities, Mr. Todd said President George Weah has expressed the need for the infrastructure to be replaced.
