New EU Ambassador, Laurent Delahousse assures support for Liberia’s development agenda

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – The new European Union Ambassador to Liberia, Laurent Delahousse, says the EU remains committed to supporting Liberia in several areas of development.

Ambassador Delahousse named some of the areas as Forestry, Electricity, Fisheries, and Agriculture among others.

The new EU envoy said the organization will support the Liberian Government to end Sexual and Gender-Based Violence and empower women and girls.

Ambassador Delahousse made the remarks Friday when he presented his letter of credence to President George Weah in Paynesville.

Receiving the letter, President Weah praised the partnership between Liberia and the European Union.

President Weah said Government will work with the new EU Head of Delegation to further improve the relationship and shared values between Liberia and the European Union.

At the same time, the Eu has disclosed that it will not bring in an Election Observation Mission for the December 8 Senatorial election.

However, the EU said it is supporting the electoral process through other partners to ensure a free, fair, and transparent election.

The disclosure was made by the new EU Head of Delegation, Ambassador Laurent Delahousse, in an interview with ELBC after presenting his letter of credence to President George Weah.

Ambassador Delahousse said Liberia has several partners to assist and testify that the election will be free and transparent.

According to him, the credibility of the election will send a signal that democracy is deeply rooted in the Country.
