Independent Council of Patriots wants Gov. support Justice Ministry to prosecute rape cases

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Head of the Independent Council of Patriots (ICOP) is calling on the Liberian Government to provide the necessary support to the Justice Ministry, to prosecute rape cases.

Ambassador Rufus Neufville wants policy makers desist from politicizing rape, and push for policy that would end rape in the Country.

The ICOP Head believes rape is a product of the civil war, and lauded women who stand-up to draw the attention of Government on the issue.

Ambassador Neufville also proposed stakeholders’ dialogue to address gaps in the rape law of Liberia.

He told ELBC Wednesday, September 2, 2020, that the dialogue will help identify lapses in the rape law, and derived a way forward in tackling the menace
