Criminal Courts Opened Monday Across Liberia

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Criminal Courts have opened for the August Term on Monday, August 10, 2020.

They are courts A, B, C, D and E, including other circuit courts across Liberia.

Monday’s opening, according to ELBC Judicial Correspondent, is consistent with Chapter 3, Section 3.8 of the Judiciary Law of Liberia.

The law states that Criminal Courts shall open their quarterly sections on the Second Monday in February, May, August and November of each year.

Ahead of the event, Chief Justice Francis Korkpor has re-assigned several Circuit Courts’ judges affecting Criminal Courts A, B, C, D and E.

But Judges Yamie Gbeisay and Koiboi Nuta were not re-assigned by the Priest of the High Court for the August Term.

Meanwhile, the Chief Justice has granted Yamie Gbeisay of Criminal Court ‘C’, an extension of service to complete trial involving four ex-CBL officials.
