Traditional midwives appeal to have their IDs release

LOWER BONG COUNTY, LIBERIA-Several traditional midwives in lower Bong County are appealing to Health Team of the County, to release their Identification Cards reportedly seized last year.

The midwives were issued the ID cards following an intensive training in midwifery, sponsored by Bong County Senator, Henry Yallah.

According to ELBC Lower Bong County Correspondent, the County Health Team seized the ID Cards because it did not recognize the training and accreditation of the traditional midwives.

In separate interviews with our Correspondent, the affected midwives complained of being unable to carry out their work, especially during the ongoing health crisis.

Our Correspondent said:” The midwives made the call recently when one of their colleagues, Mary Kayto, was held for hours at the Nyanforla crossing between Margibi and Bong Counties by Security officers, due to lack of proper identity.
